Okay maybe I was little harsh in the first post about Bujo
To be honest, art journaling is very therapeutic and I have fallen head over heel in love with it. And art Bujo videos are something what I have often turned to recently as a mindful activity. They have calm music , very artistic creators, and lovely creations that just fills your heart with so much peace. Hence just to be crystal clear, I am love with both art Bujo and cerebral Bujo. It is only the ‘tutorials’ that teach nothing but sell outrageously priced products that I was annoyed with.
Now that I have declared my undying love for Bujo – artistic or not – let us move on to some undiscovered facts.
Bujo was created by Ryder Carroll – he had ADHD and struggled with it and faced harsh treatments from those who didn’t understand that it was part of being a neurodiverse human or to be more accurate – an actual human. He eventually created Bujo to manage his life better.
This is as per his TED talk and his other resources like videos and blogs and his book – of course
I highly recommend go through these resources as he created these and he can explain its purpose much better.
However thanks to social media of making everything looking picture perfect, it has evolved more commonly as art Bujo – which is okay – except it scares off mere mortals like me who considered herself as ‘not-artistic’.
And you know social media , once you look up a word , it is going to chase you with related content as long as internet exists. that is how I found the original BUJO resources created by Ryder Carroll.
I highly recommend reading his book – once… or twice to get the context. He seems like a gentle soul, who has been through it and hence knows what he is talking about.
If you want to understand what it is about, google minimalist Bujo, or cerebral Bujo or original Bujo. Of course search for Bullet journal method by Ryder Carroll.
In the next post, I will chat about how it is helping me.
